A Dallas Baby Shower for Amazon Blogger Rachel Meaders
I love photographing parties, especially the ones celebrating the birth of a new baby. A baby shower is one of my favorite types of parties to photograph because the whole day is about celebrating the mother-to-be and the new life she is stepping into as a mom.
I had the honor of photographing Amazon blogger Rachel Meaders' baby shower and gender reveal here in Dallas, Texas. When the planned photographer cancelled last minute, I was more than happy to step in and photograph this adorable shower. Being a mom is my favorite role in life, so getting to document a day like this for another mommy-to-be never feels like work.
Balloon Garlands by Lushra Set the Whole Scene
Thanks to Lushra, this event had the cutest decor. Oversized pastel balloon garlands in blush, butter yellow, coral and baby blue climbed the staircase, wrapped the front entry, and spilled through the kitchen, and a lit-up 'Meaders' sign anchored the yard outside.
Decor like that is a gift to a photographer. It meant a soft, colorful backdrop in nearly every direction, so we pulled family in for portraits before the party filled up. Grandparents, parents, siblings and cousins all wanted a photo in front of those balloons, and I was so glad they did.
MacKenzie-Childs Check, Charcuterie, and Team Boy vs. Team Girl
The details are always one of my favorite parts of a shower to shoot. Black and white MacKenzie-Childs check ran down the dining table, from the serving pieces to the little bud vases holding hydrangea and baby's breath, with confetti scattered across the wood and a custom 'Baby Meaders' decal on the floor by the kitchen.
The MacKenzie-Childs check against all those soft pastel balloons is what made this shower feel like nobody else's. Guests picked up 'Team Boy' and 'Team Girl' pins on the way in and wore their guess all afternoon. Listening across the party, myself and most everyone else were sure it was going to be a girl.
Custom 'Baby Meaders' Cookies and Sweet Little Touches
Hand-decorated sugar cookies with smiley faces and 'Baby Meaders' lettering sat on a black and white MacKenzie-Childs platter, right next to a framed announcement photo of Rachel and her husband holding the ultrasound. Bud vases of hydrangea, garden roses and baby's breath were tucked in everywhere.
These are the photos clients thank me for months later, once the day has turned into a blur and the small details are the part they cannot quite remember.
A Backyard Full of Family and Friends
Outside, giant light-up marquee letters spelling BABY MEADERS anchored the yard, framed by another huge balloon garland. It made the perfect backdrop for the big group photos, so we gathered everyone under the trees and again in front of the sign.
Group shots are always worth the two minutes it takes to round people up. Years from now, this is the photo that shows exactly who showed up for this baby.
This Amazon Blogger Is Becoming a Boy Mom
Then came the reveal. Everyone lined up in front of the marquee with confetti cannons, counted it down, and the sky filled with blue. It's a boy!
Seeing the joy on their faces as blue confetti came down around them was truly special. It was an afternoon of smiles, hugs, and encouraging words for the soon-to-be parents. Oh, the adorable outfits and toys this little baby boy is going to get.

I'm Whitney, a photographer based in Dallas and Austin, Texas, and parties like this one are some of my favorite work I do. A baby shower goes by fast, and having someone there to catch the confetti, the details, and the faces of everyone who came means you get to actually be present for it.
If you are planning a baby shower, gender reveal, birthday party, or any celebration in the DallasβFort Worth area, get in touch. I would love to hear what you are dreaming up.
